Woodbury's 2nd XI were ruing a poor batting display as they tied a match they really should have won comfortably.
Earlier skipper Kevin Miller won the toss for the first time this season and had no hesitation putting the visitors into bat on a rain softened pitch. Woodbury's bowlers and fielders were in good form as they shot out Kilmington for only 71 as all batsmen struggled to get the ball away. 'Chalky' White proved to be the most miserly taking two for 10 from 13 overs, well backed up by Kevin Miller (two for 10 from eight) and Darryl Stevens (two for five from six). There were also two run outs.
In reply, what looked a straight forward task was anything but as Woodbury, in turn, found conditions in the bowlers favour. Miller and David Allen (17) put on 22 for the first wicket but it was all downhill from there as wickets tumbled in quick succession. 15-year-old Freddie Ziegler (10) looked to be winning the game for his team but with his dismissal Woodbury collapsed from 48 for five to 71 all out for a disappointing tied match. A. Smith was Kilmington's stand-out bowler taking five for 13 from 13 overs.
Woodbury II 10pts, Kilmington II 10pts.
